Turn to old comforts during this horrible time

I have been struggling to watch or read anything new during this fresh phase of lockdown. Everyone deals with crises in their own way but I think we all gravitate towards things that are familiar and comfortable during tough times. It’s basically because I think that old comfort reminds us of the security and certainty that we miss when we are going through a hard time, like now. So, I have been turning to my old favourites without shame and trying to comfort myself as best I can. It’s as important to be kind to yourself right now as it is to others. Don’t be too hard on yourself and do what makes you feel at ease. Here are some of my old comforts I’ve been turning to at the moment. Maybe you can too!

Schitt’s Creek- I watched this show last year when the pandemic started and it kept me sane. I think I’ve come full circle.

Harry Potter movies- These movies always uplift me and give me much needed hope.

Disney and anime movies- Tangled, Frozen, Ratatouille, Coco, and any Makoto Shinkai film to be honest.

Short stories- The weirder, the better. That’s why I have been re-reading a lot of Haruki Murakami and Edgar Allen Poe short stories. They are the best forms of escapism you can find right now.
