Stand out smartphones of 2020
This year has seen the launch of so many new smartphones and the market has been full of options in every price segment. Now, as we start going upwards of 11k that’s where the toughest competition between brands begins. Most companies want to launch their phones in the mid-range budget segment so there is pretty solid competition. This year two phones absolutely stood apart for me in this price segment. Both these phones are from relatively less popular brands and considering that, they are pretty great in what they offer. So the two phones that I thought were pretty great this year in the lower mid-range were the Coolpad Cool 6 and the newly released Micromax In Note 1 smartphone.
Coolpad Cool 6: The Coolpad Cool 6 was introduced for the lower mid-range market. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 10,999 in India for the 4GB RAM plus 64GB internal storage model while the higher 6GB RAM plus 128GB internal storage configuration is priced at Rs. 12,999. It is a really decent smartphone and a good addition to the lower mid-range market segment. My favourite are the cameras on the phone. The best thing is that the Coolpad Cool 6 comes with a very innovative pop selfie camera. The 21 megapixel selfie camera at the front of the phone has an aperture of f/2.0 and the lens comes in such a design that can be hidden and then it can be popped-up when needed which is pretty convenient. The Coolpad Cool 6 comes with a triple rear camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor. It is powered by the octa-core MediaTek Helio P70 SoC.
Micromax In Note 1: Micromax In Note 1 price in India has been set at Rs. 10,999 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, while the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage model of the phone is priced at Rs. 12,499. The Micromax In Note 1 comes in Green and White colour options. The phone features a 6.67-inch full-HD+ display and a hole-punch design. For performance, the phone has an octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM. The phone comes with a solid 5,000mAh battery that supports reverse charging as well as 18W fast charging. The phone comes with a quad rear camera setup that houses a 48-megapixel primary sensor, along with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor that houses a wide-angle camera. Additionally, there are also two 2-megapixel sensors for macro shots and depth sensing. For selfies the Micromax In Note 1 houses a 16-megapixel camera sensor at the front which has a 78-degree wide-angle lens. The selfie camera sensor is capable of shooting GIFs — alongside regular photos and videos.
