Sleek Start: Oppo A15s
This past year saw a lot of amazing smartphone offerings in the market and it was not limited to a particular segment. Companies launched amazing devices across all price ranges and it gave us some very cool smartphones. The budget and the mid range segments were the top popular choices as usual. Oppo also ventured into the affordable range of smartphones with its new Oppo A15s smartphone.
The Oppo A15s is the newest addition to the range of affordable smartphones in the market. The phone was officially launched on December 16, 2020 and it has been priced at Rs. 11,490. The Oppo A15s is an upgrade from its predecessor, the Oppo A15. The Oppo A15s features a 6.52-inch touchscreen display. The phone’s dimensions are 164 x 75.4 x 7.9 mm (6.46 x 2.97 x 0.31 in), so it is pretty convenient to handle and has a slim finish which looks really good. I am also very impressed with the colour variants that the smartphone is launched in. The Oppo A15s comes in the colour options of Dynamic Black, Fancy White, and Rainbow Silver colours.
The phone is powered by a Mediatek processor which I think is a good call looking at the affordable price range as well. The Oppo A15s is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 (MT6765) processor and that is coupled with 4GB of RAM. There is also an onboard storage capacity of 64GB that the phone comes with. The Oppo A15s runs Android and is powered by a 4230mAh battery. The battery could have been a bit better I would say. However, it does make the phone lighter and easier to handle. The slim finish is also a plus point when it comes to creating first impressions.
In terms of cameras, the smartphone is equipped with a triple rear setup which I think is pretty good. The setup also comes with autofocus. There is a 13-megapixel primary camera at the back which is followed by a second 2-megapixel camera and a third 2-megapixel camera. On the front of the device there is an 8- megapixel selfie shooter camera for your social media feed. At the budget price point there are a lot of phones that offer dual cameras at this price, so in that regard the triple camera plus a selfie shooter setup is a decent setup. I for one always look for the camera specification of the smartphone before purchasing. The setup in the Oppo A15s seems pretty good.
Now let us take a look at the connectivity options that the smartphone provides. The Oppo A15s runs ColorOS 7.2 based on Android. The phone offers all the basic connectivity ports and features that are found in most smartphones these days, including Wi-Fi and GPS. There are also sensors on the Oppo A15s that come in handy and makes the phone more conveniently packaged. These sensors include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, and finally also a fingerprint sensor. Looking at all the features I think that this is a fairly decent device to go for if you are someone who wants a powerful and solid performing smartphone. Yes, it may not offer a lot of gaming support, but there are many phones that do and have specially designed gaming chipsets. The Oppo A15s is an all-rounder affordable smartphone with a pretty design which I think will have many takers.
