New Phone Alert: Redmi 9A

Xiaomi has launched the new Redmi 9A starting at Rs. 6,799. This newly launched smartphone is the latest to join Xiaomi sub-brand’s budget-friendly smartphone lineup. The phone will be available for purchase on Amazon, Mi.com, and Mi Home from September 9 starting at 12 noon. Right now in the budget segment of the mobile market there are tonnes of new options floating. A lot of companies have launched their phones recently and the competition is tight. So let us look at what this new addition to the growing pool of budget phones has to offer.

Starting with internals, the Redmi 9A is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G25 SoC and comes with a 3GB RAM. The phone is available in two storage variants. The base model of 2GB RAM with 32GB internal is priced in India at Rs. 6,799, while the top variant of 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage is priced at Rs. 7,499. Both the storage variants are expandable up to 512GB with a dedicated microSD card. The Redmi 9A supports dual-SIM Nano and Nano cards, and runs on MIUI 12, based on Android 10 on top.

The smartphone is available in three distinct and gorgeous colour options of Midnight Black, Nature Green, and Sea Blue. The Redmi 9A features a 6.53-inch HD+ (720x1,600 pixels) LCD Dot Drop display touchscreen with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and relatively thick bezels all around. It has a waterdrop-style notch at the front housing the front selfie shooter with a sole rear camera. The Redmi 9A sports a single 12- megapixel rear sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. Additionally, for selfies and video-calling, a 5- megapixel sensor is placed inside the waterdrop-style notch at the front of the device.

The Redmi 9A comes packed with a big 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W fast charging. I think personally, the battery is the obvious highlight of the phone for me. It is pretty massive and promises long and sufficient backup. Further in connectivity options, the Redmi 9A smartphone includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5mm audio jack, and Micro-USB port. The phone also supports AI face unlock besides all of the other new features. It also comes with a P2i coating, that makes the Redmi 9A splash resistant. Coming to the dimensions of the phone, the Redmi 9A measures 164.9x77.07x9mm and weighs 194 grams, which is ideal for a regular phone.

All in all, looking at all the specifications of the phone we can conclude that the Redmi 9A is indeed a good option in the budget market and even one that is likely to sell out relatively fast.
