New luxury: Mi QLED TV 4K
Xiaomi launched the Mi QLED TV 4K, which is the company’s first QLED panel TV in India, on Wednesday. The TV market has been saturated with some pretty underwhelming products lately, and this premium offering from Xiaomi seems like a very refreshing turn. The new TV comes in a sole variant, with a 55-inch Ultra-HD screen. The Android TV and PatchWall-powered Mi QLED TV 4K is also the company’s most premium television series yet in the country, offering a step up over the existing LED TV range. The TV features a UHD resolution of 3840x2160 pixels and comes with support for HDR up to the Dolby Vision format. As for the price of the TV, it starts at Rs. 54,999 and is counted among the most expensive 55-inch televisions from the brand in the country. The Mi QLED TV 4K will go on sale in India on December 21 and will be available for purchase on Flipkart, the Mi website and other retail outlets.
The 55-inch Ultra-HD QLED TV runs Android TV 10, and is among the first major television launches to run the latest version of Android TV. But this does not run the Google TV launcher as on the Chromecast with Google TV and instead runs on the stock Android TV launcher. This TV also competes with brands like OnePlus and TCL that are similarly priced under the 60k price point. The Mi QLED TV 4K also comes with support for various HDR formats including HLG, HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision. In terms of internal specifications, the Mi QLED TV 4K comes powered by a MediaTek MT9611 quad-core processor for the interface. Additionally, the TV has 2GB of RAM followed by 32GB of internal storage for apps and app data. It also has 30W of sound output through a six-speaker system comprising four full-range drivers and two tweeters, which is quite impressive.
My favourite feature on this TV is the built-in Chromecast that it comes with along with a quick wake function. This function is similar as is seen on the Mi TV 4A Horizon Edition. The TV comes with three HDMI ports and two USB ports on the Mi QLED TV 4K. All of the three are HDMI 2.1 with support for 60Hz refresh rate at up to 4K resolution and a claimed input lag of 5ms, which will be beneficial for gaming. In terms of connectivity, the Mi QLED TV 4K has support for Bluetooth 5 as well as HDMI eARC.
