MediaTek’s upcoming candidates
Chip-making giant MediaTek launched its 5G processors series called Dimensity for consumers to have the ultimate 5G experience. The first in the series was the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 SoC that was launched in November last year. The latest to join its wagon is the Dimensity 1000+ which is a slight upgrade from its predecessor. Along with offering optimisations for faster refresh rates The new Dimensity 1000+ also comes with features like HyperEngine 2.0, UltraSave Technologies, and MiraVision Picture Quality Engine support. The chip has the ability to dynamically adjust the modem’s power configuration and operating frequency according to network conditions and user activities to significantly save power. The first phone that will integrate this MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC will be an iQoo phone which is expected to launch soon. Following are the list of upcoming smartphones that will be powered by MediaTek.
iQOO Z1 5G- The latest smartphone from iQOO’s is to be powered with Dimensity 1000+ SoC. The Dimensity 1000 + is an upgrade (144Hz Display Support mainly) of Dimensity 1000 chipset. The iQOO Z1 5G offers a 6.57-inch FHD+ LCD screen with 20:9 aspect ratio, 400 PPI of pixel density as well as a 90.4% screen-to-body ratio. It additionally offers a 144Hz refresh rate display support with an option to switch between 144Hz, 120Hz and 90Hz, completing it with stereo speakers and a Smart PA amplifier. The iQOO Z1 sports a 48MP (Sony IMX582 sensor) primary camera on the rear along with a 16MP front-facing camera. It is also equipped with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 44W fast charging.
Redmi K30 Ultra- The China based Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is soon set to include a new device called Redmi K30 Ultra under its K30 family. A recent report suggests that the Redmi K30 Ultra device codenamed under “Cezanne” might be in the works. There is a strong likelihood that the K30 Ultra will be equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000+ processor. Other specifications related rumours include a Quad camera with 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor, AMOLED Display, in-screen fingerprint sensor, a pop-up selfie snapper with a 4,700mAh battery complimented with 33W fast charging.
Xiaomi Gaming Phone- A Weibo account post said that Xiaomi is preparing a 144Hz refresh rate LCD panel smartphone with MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor chip. Hence, it might be possible that Xiaomi will announce this as a gaming-focussed smartphone. However, Xiaomi has not confirmed this information.
Redmi H Series- Redmi already has a plethora of 5G phones including the Snapdragon 765G powered K30, Snapdragon 865 powered K30 Pro, Dimensity 820 powered Redmi 10X Series and Snapdragon 768G powered K30 5G Racing Edition. But this year, Redmi might launch more 5G phones for different price segments. Recently, the Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing conveyed his congratulations to MediaTek for the latest high-end mobile Dimensity 1000 SoC. He also stated that his company is looking forward to working with MediaTek to bring 5G enabled handsets, adequately hinting that the next 5G device (Probably H-Series) could be equipped with Dimensity 1000 chip.
Realme Dimensity SoC phone- Emilio Alvarez, the country manager of Realme, announced that the company will launch more than five 5G smartphones in 2020. This suggests that after the Realme X50 5G, X50m 5G, X50 Pro Play and X50 Pro 5G, even more 5G phones are to be expected in the near future. It is also being speculated that one of the upcoming 5G devices of the brand will be powered by the Dimensity 1000 chipset.
