Mediatek launches the Dimensity 8100 and 2 other flagship chipsets
They’re here! Mediatek has launched two brand new flagship 5G chipsets to add to their growing and glowing Dimensity range of 5G chipsets. The Mediatek Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 8000 chipsets were announced by the company on Tuesday and the features offered are looking exceptional. These two processors from the brand are for the flagship 5G segment, giving tough competition to rival chipsets. The Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 8000 are built on TSMC’s 5nm process, and comes on the heels of the big success of the Dimensity 9000 that is built on a 4nm process. The company has also made an announcement of launching Dimensity 1300 SoC, which is an upgraded version of the company’s Dimensity 1200 chipset, which was launched last year. The Dimensity 1200 was also important as it came with Mediatek’s customization options through its Open Resource Architecture initiative.
Now, among the new releases, in this blog I will highlight some of the specs and features of the Dimensity 8100. The Mediatek Dimensity 8100 features four Cortex-A78 performance cores and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, along with a Mali G610 MC6 GPU. The performance cores on the Dimensity 8100 offer 2.85GHz speeds, while also being equipped with MediaTek’s HyperEngine 5.0 technology for efficiency and improved frame rates. For instance, the Dimensity 8100 comes with a maximum frame rate of 120fps, and also supports LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The chipset sports a lot of other features like the MiraVision 780 display engine. Plus all the smartphones powered by these new chipsets can support up to 168Hz refresh rate at full-HD+ (1,080x1,920 pixels) resolution. For the MediaTek Dimensity 8100, there will be support for 120Hz refresh rate at WQHD+ (1,440x2,560 pixels) resolution.
