So many new chipsets are being added constantly to the Dimensity range of chipsets from MediaTek. For a while now and all the new processors that are being launched are each better than the other. The latest in the mid-range segment of 5G smartphone processors is the Dimensity 810, which was accompanied by the Dimensity 920. MediaTek Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810 5G SoCs have been announced as the latest models to join the growing Dimensity 900 and 800 series portfolio. Mediatek’s Dimensity 920 is designed on a 6nm process and is a very promising and capable processor for powering mid-range 5G smartphones right now. The latest example is shown by Xiaomi, with its two brand new launches in India in the form of the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G and Xiaomi 11i 5G. Both of these new mid-range 5G devices from the Chinese giant are powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 920 soc. The MediaTek Dimensity 920 works well for affordable 5G devices because it’s features are well-suitable for the price range without a lot of compromises at all. Let us look at some of the features that make up the chipset.

CPU and GPU- The MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset packs one set each of Arm Cortex-A78 and Arm Cortex-A55 CPU cores with the former clocked at 2.5GHz and the latter at 2.0GHz. The CPU is paired with an Arm Mali-G68 MC4 GPU and the SoC. The 920 is also a much higher upgrade in the D900 series and offers the features to prove that. The chipset also supports LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 RAM as well as UFS 2.1 and UFS 3.1 storage.

5G Connectivity- The advanced 5G modem embedded in the Dimensity 920 is capable of implementing 2CC Carrier Aggregation spectrum, covering a wider 120MHz spectrum in this coverage area. It can go very far because of the carrier which supports the frequency merging with Mixed Duplex FDD+TDD. The chipset comes with support for Wi-Fi 6, 5G, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS, NavIC, and more. The Dimensity 920 is one of Mediatek’s leading 5G chipsets that power mid-range devices and more and more brands like Xiaomi are opting to integrate the processor with their smartphones. Now smartphone brands can add an upgraded 2×2 antenna for Wi-Fi 6 to the Dimensity 920 chip when connected to a Wi-Fi 6 broadcaster with the same capabilities. It will help to improve the connection quality.

Cameras- The MediaTek Dimensity 920 enables you to take brilliant photos as the brand is fully capable of supporting a 108MP main camera sensor into its latest smartphones with wide-angle, telephoto and macro lenses. Including other cameras and lenses like no other The flagship-level noise reduction technique combines 3DNR + MFNR and has an automatic background correction engine to deliver crisp, clear images even at night, and that includes in low light conditions. In addition to being capable of processing a single 108-megapixel camera, it also supports two 20-megapixel sensors, with additional support for 4K video recording.

Display features- For the matter of display support, the Dimensity 920 comes with a stunning 120Hz refresh rate and can run 2,560x1,080 pixels displays for the same. For video encoding, it can encode in H.264, H.265/ HEVC. The chipset’s screen refresh rate of up to 120Hz for FullHD + also helps immensely in terms of gaming. When you are gaming, fast responsiveness is one of the key requirements that can make or break a gaming experience. With the MediaTek Dimensity 920, the refresh rate is adjusted automatically during high-level gaming to increase responsiveness, while going down when the screen is idle or inactive to save power. This way, intense gaming does not end up taking a toll on the battery.

Video support and features- The Dimensity 920 chipset is built with premium camera technology which supports hardware-accelerated 4K HDR video recording technology. Smartphone users can capture crystal clear video in any situation with stunning 4K resolution, and 4K HDR image capture is extremely energy efficient which is thanks to the hardware engine embedded in the processor. This way users can record long duration of footage with ease.
