Smart home speakers have been getting more and more abundant in the market lately with a lot of companies launching their very own devices. Flipkart’s new MarQ Smart Home Speaker is the latest to join that bandwagon. The new smart home speaker is powered by the Taiwanese chip-making giant MediaTek. The brand has made its presence known in diverse industry verticals by now and the major dominance lies in smartphones, smart TVs and smart speakers. The Taiwan-based company offers specialised solutions to cater to specific verticals, with custom-built technologies for handling the requirements for each of those.
Going into the internals now, the MarQ smart speaker houses a MediaTek MT8516 kit at its heart which is an integrated hardware and software solution designed specifically for voice assistant devices and audio applications. MediaTek is also well-known for powering more mainstream VADs like the Amazon Alexa.
The kit includes a quad-core ARM Cortex-A35 application processor. This processor is clocked at up to 1.3GHz to process user inputs faster. Additionally, another key highlight is its 2-mic development kit that ensures accurate capture of voice commands. The mic kit works even when the user is speaking from across the room. This integrated MediaTek kit with the smart speaker is equipped with both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities built-in and is a highly competent and cost-conscious solution.
The new MarQ Smart Home Speaker is powered by Google Assistant and is priced affordably at Rs 3,499. It is a very reasonably priced device and perfect for a first timer to invest as their first smart speaker. The speaker can control smart home devices, play and pause music, answer your questions and do a lot more with just simple voice commands. The speaker is even equipped to support Hindi so that makes it very conversation friendly. MediaTek also says that the speaker has been designed, engineered, and made in India, for the Indian demographic.
The 6W MarQ Smart Home Speaker comes in the colour option of black. It is encased in a moulded body with a soft fabric finish. The speaker’s design and shape are subtle and beautiful and it is very flexible in terms of fitting in with varied decors. The size is pretty compact as well so it doesn’t take up a lot of space and can go up on any side table, nook or corner of your house pretty easily.
