Is the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 better than the Dimensity 1100?
First of all, I think these newest additions from MediaTek in its Dimensity series are really powerful. Both the Dimensity 1200 and 1100 are also built on 6nm process which is good upgrade from the previous 7nm architecture of the other processors. The Dimensity 1200 is a slightly better processor than the Dimensity 1100. The higher-end 1200 features a “prime” Cortex-A78 core clocked up to 3GHz, while the other three performance cores are Cortex-A78 cores clocked up to 2.6GHz. But in terms of the GPU, both come with a nine core ARM Mali-G77 GPU. The chipset additionally has MediaTek APU 3.0 for AI computing for which the APU on the Dimensity 1200 chipset has 10% more performance.
The Dimensity 1200 supports 168Hz refresh rate at FHD+ resolution. On the other hand, the Dimensity 1100 supports a refresh rate of 144Hz at FHD+ resolution. In camera features also both the chipsets come with support for AI camera features such as AI Panorama Night Shot, AI Multi-Person Bokeh, AI Noise Reduction, HDR capabilities, and AI-enhanced video playback features such as AI SDR-to-HDR. The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 has a penta-core ISP on the SoC that supports up to 200MP image sensors (single), or up to 32MP + 16MP image sensors (dual). The chipset also features staggered 4K HDR video capture for greater dynamic range. The Dimensity 1200 processor overall, only has a slight edge over the Dimensity 1100 and that is seen by its CPU specifications, refresh rate, APU performance and camera support. Even in these areas the differences are pretty minor and if you look at it you will find that both the Dimensity 1200 as well as 1100 are efficient and powerful 5G processors.
