A lot of people asked me if the newly launched MarQ smart home speaker was worth buying. I think it is surely worth buying. I agree there are some good options and competitions in the market like JBL and Amazon, but I stick to my point that the Flipkart speaker is definitely worth investing in. The speaker is also very fairly priced at only Rs 3,499.

Other alternatives have certain things under their particular price points and the MarQ smart home speaker also has pretty great features to offer. These are the highlights for me:

1) For instance, my favourite thing about this speaker is its language setting which is pretty unique and refreshing. The speaker is equipped to support Hindi so that makes it very conversation friendly. MediaTek also says that the speaker has been designed, engineered, and made in India, for the Indian demographic.

2) The new MarQ Smart Home Speaker is powered by Google Assistant and i. It is a very reasonably priced device and perfect for a first timer to invest as their first smart speaker. The speaker can control smart home devices, play and pause music, answer your questions and do a lot more with just simple voice commands.

3) The MarQ Smart Home Speaker apart from the ability to control a whole bunch of compatible smart home devices, also excels at giving you answers to difficult questions and performing tasks like updating your calendar, setting an alarm, offering real-time translations, telling you jokes, playing games with you and much more.

4) It is claimed to offer two times stronger bass than the Google Home Mini. If you are planning to buy it you will also get a free three-month membership of JioSaavn Pro to listen to uninterrupted music without any ads.

5) Another key highlight is its 2-mic development kit that ensures accurate capture of voice commands. The mic kit works even when the user is speaking from across the room.

The MarQ smart speaker houses a MediaTek MT8516 kit at its heart which is an integrated hardware and software solution designed specifically for voice assistant devices and audio applications. MediaTek is also well-known for powering more mainstream VADs like the Amazon Alexa. The kit includes a quad-core ARM Cortex-A35 application processor. This processor is clocked at up to 1.3GHz to process user inputs faster. This integrated MediaTek kit with the smart speaker is equipped with both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities built-in and is a highly competent and cost-conscious solution.
