Since it is a new release and we are yet to see the chipset powering any smartphone, I will take you through all that it offers and let you decide. But in my opinion, if in future you are using a smartphone that is powered by the new Mediatek Dimensity 8100 chipset, you will for sure be able to play games on it without worrying about freeze ups or a laggy interface. Because for any chipset to perform well while gaming, the speed and frame rates are of utmost importance. The performance cores on the Dimensity 8100 offer 2.85GHz speeds, while also being equipped with Mediatek’s HyperEngine 5.0 technology for efficiency and improved frame rates. For instance, the Dimensity 8100 comes with a maximum frame rate of 120fps.

Mediatek has always given constant improvement and upgrades with every new chipset that they launch, and so in their flagship 5G segment, the new Dimensity 8000 series are definitely the top chipsets, behind only the Dimensity 9000 SoC that is built using TSMC’s 4nm architecture. The Dimensity 8100 is built using TSMC’s 5nm process, and comes with the company’s Cortex-A78 performance cores and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, along with a Mali G610 MC6 GPU. The small node architecture will additionally make sure to impart greater power to the chipset for overall performance and functioning. Mediatek has offered four Cortex-A78 performance cores and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, along with a Mali G610 MC6 GPU. The GPU and CPU specs are solid and will not only offer a good overall performance, but will also ensure a seamless, lag-free gaming performance as well. So, to answer this question, yes- the Dimensity 8100 from mediatek will surely be a very capable gaming processor as well.
