How is Mediatek’s new initiative going to be useful for us?

New things are happening. And like I said in my previous blog that Mediatek is collaborating with smartphone makers to give us more unique devices. The Dimensity 5G Open Resource Architecture is basically an initiative to spice up the choices of smartphones available to us and to give us variety. I know the name sounds very complicated but it is pretty simple. I will tell you the reasons why we should be looking forward to this new initiative and how it is going to benefit us as smartphone users.

This new initiative essentially opens up all resources of the flagship Mediatek Dimensity chipsets. It aims to allow OEMs to custom tweak and change certain requirements. I’ll give an example here, a smartphone maker can now get low-level hardware access to the ISP inside the Dimensity 1200. Through this they will be able to tweak it with their custom algorithms and resources to get a more optimized and personalized camera performance out of their smartphones. In other words, companies will now be able to offer more personalized performance on a particular Dimensity chipset.

Furthermore, using the Open Resource Architecture, OEMs will be able to choose their own camera algorithms instead of Mediatek’s optimizations. The same will apply to other resources too. That includes display calibration, background AI processing, connectivity features, and more.
