It seems that the pandemic has succeeded in slowing down everything except, the smartphone markets. While so many businesses have come to a standstill, the mobile companies are still consistently coming out with new and improved devices with advanced technologies and at affordable prices, much to the joy of all the hungry customers. At a time when there are too many choices in the market for smartphone buyers, especially in the budget segment, it’s a bit tricky to decide on a particular smartphone’s worth. Huawei has launched two of its newest smartphones in the market, the Honor 9A, priced at Rs. 9,999 and Honor 9S which is marked at Rs. 6,499. Both phones are for the budget segment and have some good features. The Honor 9S runs on Android 10 with Magic UI 3.1 on top. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6762R Helio P22 processor, which is a pretty good deal for a phone this reasonable on the price front. The MediaTek processors are also known to provide a smooth run of the device with excellent power boost. It has a decent 3,020mAh battery and comes in a single variant of 2GB RAM with an internal storage of 32GB that is expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card with a dedicated slot.

Some may have issues with the smartphone having Huawei’s AppGallery instead of the Google Play store but for those looking for a smartphone that is easy on the pocket as well as one that supports most apps, if not all, the 9S is not a bad deal. The smartphone comes in the colours of Blue and Black and has a 5.45-inch HD+ (720x1,440 pixels) full view touchscreen display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. While some may argue of the display being compact, the colours and visuals are really great for the price and also, as the phone comes with some flagship features a compact display is not that big of a bother. The Honopr 9S come with a single primary camera of 8- megapixel at the rear of the device along with an aperture of f/2.0 for the sensor. It also has a front camera for all the selfie lovers, of 5- megapixel with an f/2.2 lens. At the very budget price of Rs. 6,999, the Honor 9S certainly has some good features to boast. The battery isn’t massive but still packs a decent 3,020mAh. In connectivity options, the smartphone includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and a Micro-USB port.

Overall, this smartphone is worth buying and offers some unique features. Yes, there maybe certain aspects of the phone like the AppGallery where customers might feel a bit apprehensive but then there are so many Android users who wouldn’t blink an eye if they were offered to own an Apple with a completely different operating system and app vaults. So, in that case the Honor 9S is also worth a try and as it is primarily an Android OS, it’s much easier to use as well.
