Gothic fiction is only the best kind to read, certainly the most interesting. It’s one of my favourite genres to read ever. So, in this blog today I will be recommending some of my favourite and generally acceptable amazing gothic fiction novels to read.

Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier- The list of gothic literature will always be incomplete without the queen of the genre. This chilling tale narrated by the nameless protagonist keeps you constantly on edge as, along with the narrator, you are haunted by Rebecca throughout the book.

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde- Wilde was definitely one of the greats and in this sinister tale of the young, devilishly handsome Dorian Gray and his horrific deeds you will realize the power of his writing and its ability to keep you hooked.

The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson- This was one of my favourite books growing up but you only realise how relatable it is once you’re an adult.

The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe- Nobody does gothic and the macabre better than the master himself. In this short story, the narrator tries to convince the reader about his sanity from the beginning while also describing a murder he committed. Truly mad, truly brilliant!
