Galaxy M01 Core: New blessing
Samsung launched its newest edition of smartphone in its Galaxy M series and it is being touted as the South Korean company’s most affordable smartphone. The new Samsung Galaxy M01 Core is the successor of the previous Galaxy M01 and Galaxy M01s, whereas in physicality it looks more like a rebranded version of the Galaxy A01 Core which was launched in Indonesia last week. The new Galaxy M01 Core is based on Android Go and has lightweight custom apps that are built to use less storage for the OS. The Galaxy M01 Core comes with a single rear camera of 8- megapixel with an LED flash whereas for the front the smartphone sports a 5- megapixel selfie shooter camera.
The smartphone will also have two configurations to choose from, with up to 32GB of available inbuilt storage which is expandable by a microSD card. The base variant will have 1GB RAM and an additional 16GB of internal storage which is priced at ₹5,499. The higher variant comes with 2GB RAM and an internal storage capacity of 32GB which will be priced at ₹6,499. The new Samsung Galaxy M01 Core will be available for purchase from 29 June via Samsung Opera House, Samsung.com and other online stores. The device will be available in three colour variants of Black, Blue and Red and measures 8.6mm in its thickness. Connectivity options for the Samsung Galaxy M01 Core include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Samsung Galaxy M01 Core sports a 5.3-inch HD+ display and has a 3000mAh battery unit which the company claims will provide up to 11 hours of battery life for the phone on a single charge. The Galaxy M01 Core is powered by a quad-core MediaTek 6739 processor which supports features like Intelligent Inputs and Intelligent Photos as well as Dark Mode integration. The company claims that the device gets a new ‘Make for India’ UX with a plethora of features that have been created keeping Indian users in mind.
For instance, in the Intelligent Inputs feature there is a category called ‘Smart Paste’ which allows users to paste the relevant text like website URL on a web browser, mobile number on the dialler and email address on a mail application — all automatically extracted from the same message. Similarly, the intelligent screen of the phone has dynamic screen timeout for power optimization. The feature ‘Suggest Notification’ warns users about low battery and also allows them to open the app that is running or add other critical apps in Maximum Power Saving Mode to increase the run time of the device. There is another feature called ‘Intelligent Photos’ which detects similar looking photographs or duplicate pictures and suggests users to keep the best picture and discard the others to free up space.
The new smartphone from Samsung boasts of some really cool features for its price and with the MediaTek processor backing the phone, it won’t be too hard to expect proficiency in its performance.
