When you are buying a pair of headphones, you need to decide what are your exact musical tastes before deciding on a pair to buy. Some headphones are made for bass-specific sounds and some are more inclined towards rock and instruments. If you are a casual music listener, it’s important to figure out what type of music you mostly listen to make an informed choice that is suitable to you. Now, if you are a bass head and mostly like to listen to R&B and groovy beats heavy music then the Boat Rockerz 400 is a good choice for you. The headsets are priced at only Rs. 1,499 and are well suitable for your ears as well as your pocket. For regular usage as well this is pretty great. The Boat Rockerz 400 is available in four colour options of Carbon Black, Black/ Red, Black/ Blue, and Grey/ Green. The battery of the device is also sufficient and offers a decent backup. The headset has a 250mAh battery and a claimed battery life of 8 hours which easily lasts an hour or so more than that. The charging time claimed by the manufacturer is 2 hours, and the headphones take nearly that much to get charged fully.

Bass-focused R&B sounds awesome on the headphones

Now, for the most crucial area of performance, the audio quality. The Boat Rockerz 400 headset has 40mm drivers with 32 Ohms impedance ratings and a frequency response range of 20Hz-20KHz. For the price, the Rockerz 400 delivers a pretty good audio quality albeit at higher volumes it might shriek a bit which is acceptable for such a reasonable headphone. As I already mentioned before, this particular pair is suitable for more beaty music. Don’t even think about listening to Radiohead or My Bloody Valentine on this, you will cry. I’m saying this from personal experience.

However, if you are a fan of shoegaze and alt-rock, it’s best to steer clear of playing them. I tried playing Loveless by My Bloody Valentine. Big mistake.

If you are a casual listener with bass heavy music as your go-to, this headphone is perfect for you. These headphones have a decent amount of bass and mids but the highs do sound shrill at higher volumes. It is advisable to use these headphones at 80 percent volume since the highs were manageable up to this point. The controls are sort of inverted. Long-pressing the track skip/ repeat buttons changes the volume on the headset while a short-press changes the track, which could get some getting used to initially. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with the product as it is affordable plus gives a decent audio quality for a regular user.
